The Aerus Hydroxyl Blaster (Model F213A), also known as the Aerus Mid-Range Blaster, puts patented ActivePure® Technology to work in large indoor spaces. Aerus rates it for up to 5,000 sq. ft. in residential settings and up to 2,500 sq. ft. in high-density commercial settings. It's designed for commercial applications but is safe for use in homes, and it provides 24/7 air purification while it's running. According to Aerus, it helps reduce VOC gases, smoke and odors without the use of ozone, as well as many common types of bacteria, viruses and mold.
The F213A is the current Hydroxyl Blaster model. It meets California's ozone emissions limit (CARB certified), is validated to UL 2998 and conforms to UL 507 for safety. If you own an earlier Hydroxyl Blaster, model F203C, the F213A is the model to look for when you add or replace a unit.
Most air purifiers clean the air they draw inside. ActivePure® Technology takes a proactive approach that also reaches out into the room. As air moves through the Blaster's four 9" ActivePure® cell assemblies, the ActivePure® honeycomb matrix converts molecules already in the air into a mix of new molecules, hydroxyls among them. The Blaster sends these molecules back out into your space, where they help reduce contaminants throughout the room while the unit is running. Because the molecules travel out into the room, the Blaster doesn't rely on dwell time inside the unit.
Aerus reports that, in extensive unaffiliated lab testing, ActivePure® Technology has reduced up to 99.9% of many common types of bacteria, viruses and mold in indoor spaces. In testing at an independent, FDA-compliant lab, the Hydroxyl Blaster reduced 99.98% of live SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19, on surfaces within 7 hours, according to Aerus. You can download those test results from the Understanding ActivePure® Technology tab. Aerus notes that ActivePure® Technology does not replace the need to follow public health guidelines and should be used as a complementary technology.
ActivePure® Technology carries the Space Foundation's Certified Space Technology seal, which Aerus says no other air cleaning technology has earned. The Space Foundation also inducted ActivePure® into its Space Technology Hall of Fame in 2017.
With up to 5,000 sq. ft. of residential coverage, the Hydroxyl Blaster suits large open living areas, finished basements and other big spaces at home. It's also a fit for commercial spaces such as offices, lobbies, waiting rooms and classrooms. In high-density commercial settings, where many people share the space, Aerus rates it for up to 2,500 sq. ft.
At 24 lbs, the Blaster is easy to move from one area to another as your needs change. It's made in the USA with domestic and globally sourced components and comes with a limited 3-year warranty (terms and conditions may apply).
Aerus recommends ceilings no higher than 10 feet for these coverage ratings. Every space is different, and your results depend on many factors, including HVAC system capabilities and settings, airflow around walls and doors, air pressure, temperature and humidity, how many people use the space, VOC levels and any other layers of protection you have in place. Aerus also recommends comparing results before and after you start using the technology, in conditions as close to identical as possible, to help you get the most from it.
For best results, place the Blaster near the center of the area you want to treat. Plug it directly into a grounded wall outlet rather than an extension cord or power strip.

The Hydroxyl Blaster works proactively. Its ActivePure® cells release molecules, including hydroxyls, that spread through the space and help reduce contaminants while the unit is running, so it doesn't rely on dwell time inside the unit.
