School children in central California at increased risk for asthma

While asthma is a rising issue among children and adults in the country, US Air Purifiers Direct 2U has air filters and purifiers to keep your air pollution-free.

According to new findings by the California Department of Public Health, young school-age children are at a greater risk for developing asthma than other age groups in the state. Students in the San Joaquin Valley are particularly at risk, with the study saying children are finding it increasingly difficult to breathe while engaging in outdoor activities.

One of the major reasons for the high contraction of asthma among these children is the air pollution of the area, says Anthony Presto, an official for the San Joaquin Valley Air District.

Presto also stated that a factor in the rise of asthma among young kids is California's geography.

"We seem to be built to retain air pollution. We're almost completely surrounded by mountains, we don't get a lot of windy storms," Presto said in a press statement In San Joaquin Valley alone, almost 15 percent of children suffer from asthma.

In a list of the ten most polluted cities across the country released by the American Lung Association in early 2013, six of those cities are located in California's Central Valley, including San Joaquin. Asthma is such an epidemic in the Central Valley that, in a 2009 California health interview survey, lifetime asthma rates were found to be significantly higher than any other area of the state.

With an air filter or purifier from US Air Purifiers Direct 2U, you can help protect your family from the harsh pollutants of the environment no matter what area of the country you live. Residential air purifiers for your home will clean the air, allowing anybody to breath easier. Don't wait until your children are feeling the harmful affects of the atmosphere to invest in an air purifier.
