World’s first allergy friendly airline recognized in Switzerland

Swiss International Air Lines has been recognized as the world's first allergy friendly airline.

If you are an individual who suffers from allergies, you know what a struggle even the most basic of tasks can often be. For those with allergies, traveling can be something of a nightmare, as you do not know when or if you are going to be exposed to a substance that is going to trigger an attack for you. This can be especially scary if you have a child with allergies who is not completely on the lookout at all times.

But now, there is some good news for travelers with Allergies: Swiss International Air Lines has been certified as the world’s first allergy friendly airline. The company earned this distinction from the European Centre for Allergy Research Foundation, an organization that is based in Berlin, Germany. The airline offers direct flights from Switzerland to seven major United States cities.

The Swiss airline got its allergy-friendly commendation from the European Centre by meeting the group’s two-page criteria for airlines. A spokesperson for the airline made sure to note that the airline was allergy friendly and not entirely allergy free, an important distinction. Although there is always the possibility of suffering from an allergy attack, Swiss International has taken several major steps to keep passengers as protected as possible.

Some of these steps include offering a lactose and gluten free menu, a choice of pillow that is stuffed with synthetic materials, unscented soaps in the bathrooms as well as removing fresh flowers from the cabins. The airline has gone to these lengths in order to ensure that all of their passengers enjoy the same level of comfort on such lengthy flights.
